This is a new position reporting to the Site Manager The Sr. SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) Generalist Leader is responsible for day-to-day SHE activities at our dynamic manufacturing facility. Under the supervision of the Site Manager, works closely with champions, team leaders, and operators in these activities supporting the continued development of our SHE controls and Zero Harm culture. Job Duties: Ensure Weir Groups SHE Charter is fully respected via full implementation of internal protocols and procedures across the site Prepare tactical SHE plans for site that align with company objectives; assist and communicate with managers, supervisors, and operatives on all SHE practices and provide guidance to ensure effective management systems and full legislative compliance is maintained Provide regulatory guidance for all SHE related issues and ensure compliance systems are adequate to track and document compliance status; develop necessary tools, spreadsheets, programs as needed for compliance with Weir Standards; develop safe work procedures for all jobs and tasks, and ensure procedures remain updated Actively monitor and assess factory SHE compliance and performance for customer corporate, governmental and third-party safety standards, ensuring robust, timely data collection, monitoring, and analysis for reportable metrics; ensure noncompliance findings are addressed and corrected where appropriate; track sustainability metrics for site use in conformance with company standard, including reporting to Group-level for reporting purposes Support the development and sharing of good practice throughout the business and conduct audits and inspections as required; support operational and field managers in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses where necessary; support departmental supervisors/Risk Champions to ensure risk assessments are completed for all operations Facilitate SHE trainings and awareness activities from new hire training to Weir Zero Harm behavioral programs Ensure all contractors and sub-contractors comply with local legislation and Weir protocols Interact with regulatory agencies during inspections, inquiries, representing the company in negotiations Job Qualifications: Bachelors degree (minimum) Five+ years SHE-related experience in a manufacturing environment; emphasis on safety desired Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Able to work a flexible schedule, as needed Willing and able to travel up to 10% (domestic and international) as needed Must be permanently authorized to work in Canada The ideal candidate will have a SHE-related certification/license; experience working with ISO Management systems (9001, 14001 and/or 45001); and experience using SharePoint. Other: Work Environment: Steel foundry site/office, noise and dust, and indoor/outdoor in all types of weather Physical Requirements: Mobility within a manufacturing environment, and ability to stand, stoop, kneel, walk, and climb as needed PPE Requirements: Minimum includes hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety boots; additional PPE is required for certain areas and activities in the plant Good corrected vision
